Judy Ward has led the effort to end the government’s intrusion into our lives by voting to allow businesses to remain open, limit the misuse of disaster declarations by the governor, and sponsoring legislation banning vaccine and mask mandates.

Pennsylvanians have a right to free and fair elections. They deserve an election system that makes it easy to vote and hard to cheat. In 2020, Governor Wolf and the Democrat-controlled Supreme Court bypassed state election laws, changed deadlines, and eliminated provisions requiring signature verification. Judy Ward has been a leader for greater election transparency, ballot security, and Voter ID. Following the 2020 election, Judy joined a lawsuit challenging the actions of Governor Wolf and the Supreme Court to ensure only the legislature has the authority to prescribe when and how elections are conducted. As a member of the Intergovernmental Operations Committee, she has supported forensic investigations and the use of subpoenas. Judy has introduced legislation that allows voters to decide if the Pennsylvania Constitution should be amended to require identification to vote. These commonsense measures are needed to restore confidence in our election system-a confidence that has been eroded.

Judy has introduced legislation that provides scholarships for children in failing schools which allow parents to choose an alternative academic setting which meets their children’s educational needs. In addition to empowering parents to make the best choices for their children’s education, Judy also introduced legislation giving parents control over masking decisions in our schools and allowing them to opt out of any school mask mandate. Judy believes parents have the fundamental right to make both educational and health decisions best suited for their children.

Prior to being elected to the legislature, Judy spent 22 years as a Registered Nurse, and now as Chairman of the Senate Aging and Youth Committee she has made it a priority to protect those most vulnerable. Judy led the Senate’s effort to review the Wolf Administration’s management of nursing homes and other long-term care facilities during the Covid-19 pandemic. This review exposed numerous problems related to how these facilities were left with poor guidance, lack of personal protective equipment, and lack of state resources. Judy made it her priority to see long-term care received much-needed funding in the state budget. This funding will help sustain essential care for the thousands of vulnerable seniors and maintain employment opportunities for front-line caregivers. Judy also authored legislation to provide a path to full-time employment for those caregivers who admirably served during the pandemic.

She has worked to reduce burdensome regulations placed on farmers and provide flexibility so that family farms can keep their operations profitable and preserve their farms for future generations. Many farmers are looking to supplement their income by offering agritainment or agritourism activities on their land. Last year, Senator Ward sponsored legislation that sets safety standards for barns and other agricultural buildings that are used for weddings and other social events, without placing unfair financial burdens on farmers.
